More than 25 years of experience in the field of artisan ice creams production: that’s what characterises Gelateria Tosoni, Italian ice-cream parlour inaugurated in Berlin in 2013, named after the namesake ice-cream parlour in Mazzano, in the province of Brescia, near Lake Garda.
It is located at Planufer 92, along Kreuzberg canal, one of the best places in Berlin to enjoy a walk (a few feet away from Admiralsbrücke). The place has a beautiful terrace and can host about 40 covers inside; here you could taste more than 24 ice creams flavours. The secret is of course ingredients: Pistacchio verde di Bronte (a Sicilian Excellency), Piedmontese hazelnut, Avola almonds. The two ice-cream parlour managers are Andreas and Beate: “All our ingredients come from Italy, except seasonal fruit that we prefer to buy here in order to preserve its freshness and quality.” Vanilla, chocolate, zabaglione, stracciatella, yogurt, strawberry, raspberry, coconut; these are only some of their 100% organic flavours; our favourite one is lemon and mint.
Here it’s all at affordable prices: small cup or cone with two flavours is 1,50€, you can at most spend 3,50€; moreover there are reductions on small portions for children: for example two flavours for just 1,20€ instead of 1,50€. If you want semifreddo, you could taste Sicilian cannoli, grandma’s cake and other artisan cakes. “It took a certain time for German people to know some typical Italian desserts. When you enter our ice-cream parlour you are automatically led to go to the ice cream counter, but we also count on our refreshments and on our clients’ desire of enjoying a cappuccino sitting in our place and freely using wi-fi.”
